New Jersey Electric
A bill was passed in February 1999 to restructure the Garden State's $10 billion electric utility industry and in the same year, New Jersey joins other states that have started deregulating their electric industries. Electric deregulation works on the basis that with more and more electric companies entering the electric market, it will bring down electric prices and lead to improved services at the same time.
For an electric industry to "fully deregulate" itself, power experts estimated a few years before even more electric companies will enter its electric market. With more and more electric companies entering the market, electric consumers in deregulated electric states, including New Jersey, will then be able to experience the full benefits of electric deregulation.
